PURPOSE:To enable perfect printing of cut sheets or continuous sheet with a simple mechanism by providing a platen consisting of an ink-impregnated part and a non-impregnated part and a ribbon of a printing ribbon part and a non-ink ribbon part. CONSTITUTION:A platen 7 consisting of an ink-pregnated part 7a and a non- impregnated part 7b and a printing ribbon 13 of a printing ribbon part 13a and a non-ink ribbon part 13b are provided. When the front of printing paper is printed, a platen drive motor and a cassette holder drive motor is driven by control so that the non-impregnated part 7b and the printing ribbon part 13a are set in opposition to a printing head 12, in a mutually corresponding position. When the rear of the printing paper is printed, the platen drive motor and the cassette holder drive motor are driven by control in such a manner that the ink-impregnated part 7a and the non-ink ribbon part 13b are set against the printing head 12, in a mutually corresponding position. Subsequently, a mechanism to print the both surfaces of the printing paper is simplified and thereby a printer does not become large in size. |
