摘要 PURPOSE:To suppress the creep of sodium hydroxide and improve resistance to leakage by filling the upper part of a gelling zinc negative electrode with a gelling electrolyte that uses sodium hydroxide as the electrolyte and convering the surface of a negative electrode collection rod near the outside of a battery with sodium hydroxide. CONSTITUTION:A negative electrode 2 is formed by filling gelling zinc that uses an electrolyte in which potassium hydroxide is used as the electrolyte while a space is left behind at the aperture side in a cylindrical separator 3 with the bottom and the space section at the upper part of the gelling zinc negative electrode 2 in the said separator 3 is filled with a gelling electrolyte 16 that uses sodium hydroxide as the electrolyte. Filling is performed as described above, but since zinc is made to touch due to potassium hydroxide, the degradation of discharge performance is not generated. Besides, since the negative electrode 2 and the electrolyte 16 that uses sodium hydroxide with which the upper part of the electrode is filled as the electrolyte are both gelatinous, they are not mixed uniformly even if the top and bottom of a battery is inverted. Since the said gelling electrolyte 16 exists at the aperture side of the separator 3 at all times, the degradation of resistance to leakage is not generated.
