The hydraulic feed speed controller is for machine tools, with a through-put regulation to control the feed speed. The valve has a metering orifice as a setting component and a regulator piston in the form of a pressure balance. The metering orifice has a first section (3) with several holes of different sizes (4) and a second section which can move relative to the first and is close to it, with at least one control edge. There is a control orifice (6) in the second section (5) and the adjusting device for setting the movable section of the metering orifice has detent devices (12 to 15).
