PURPOSE:To obtain an orientation treating agent which can largely and obliquely orient liquid crystal molecules by constituting said agent of a polyimide resin which is specified in the constitution ratio A and constitution ratio B of respective specific repeating units. CONSTITUTION:This treating agent is constituted of the polyimide resin consisting of 5mol.%<=A<=100mol.% constitution ratio A of the repeating unit expressed by formula I and 95mol.%>=B>=0mol.% constitution ratio B of the repeating unit expressed by formula II. In formula I, R<1> and R<2> are perfluoroalkyl groups of 1-6C which are the same as or different from each other; R<3> is tetracarboxylic acid having an alicyclic structure; R<4>-R<7> are a halogen atom., alkyl group of 1-4C, etc.; (a)-(c) are 0, 1 or 2; (n) is 0 or 1. In formula II, R<8> denotes an org. group which constitutes diamine without having a perfluoroalkyl group; R<9> denotes arom. tetracarboxylic acid, etc. The orienta tion treating agent which has a large angle of the oblique orientation of the liquid crystal is thereby obtd. |
