Vehicle air suspension - has axle mechanism including leaf spring with varying thickness

An axle mechanism for a vehicle with air suspension includes a leaf spring at one side hinged on a transverse spindle, and at the rear allowing horizontal movement w.r.t. the vehicle frame. The centre of the leaf spring has a thicker part connected to a support for the transverse mounted wheel shaft. Two such leaf springs are on each side of the vehicle fixed to form a U-shaped stabiliser. Air springs are fitted between frame and leaf springs. Under and against the leaf spring (3) in the thickest part, fits a transverse spindle (4). A platform (5), spring and transverse spindle are secured with straps (12). The platform retains a shock absorber (15).
