PURPOSE:To reduce storage capacity greatly and to record and reproduce even combinations of tones which are node decided as a chord by the title device by recording chord information when a chord is generated and information relating to musical tone information when chord requirements are not met. CONSTITUTION:In a recording mode, when the device decides a combination of specified musical tones as a chord, its chord information is recorded in a storage means 30 and when not, information relating to the musical tones is recorded. The information relating to the musical tones is all or some of pieces of key depression information of a keyboard 10 as a musical tone specifying means, information on only a tone name part obtained by removing octave information from the key depression information, etc. Consequently, when the chord requirements are met, chord information is recorded to save the storage capacity and even a chord which can not be decided is recording with information on its constitution tones, so that diverse recent chord types can be handled.
