PURPOSE:To easily obtain colored glass having desired color density by a sol-gel process by dispersing colloidal particles of a metal in liq. sol, converting the sol into gel, drying and sintering the gel. CONSTITUTION:Colloidal particles of a metal such as gold are dispersed in liq. silica sol prepd. by hydrolyzing a metal alkoxide such as tetraethoxysilane. The sol is poured into a vessel, converted into gel and slowly dried over a long time and the dried gel is sintered. |
