PURPOSE:To enhance sensitivity and durability of a photosensitive body and to reduce its residual potential by incorporating a specified bisazo compound in a photosensitive layer. CONSTITUTION:The photosensitive layer 4 formed on a conductive substrate 1 contains at least one of the bisazo pigments represented by formula I in which Cp is a coupler residue, such as formula II, and X1 is H, cyano, or the like, and X2 is >NH, -O-, or -S-, for example, X1 is cyano and X2 is -O-; and it is preferred to compose the photosensitive layer of a carrier generating layer 2 containing the compound of formula I as a carrier generating material and a carrier transfer layer 3 containing a carrier transfer material represented by formula III. An interlayer 5 may be formed between the substrate 1 and the layer 4 and the layer 4 may be constituted in a single layer. |
