Multi-tube fluorescent lamp assembly

Two or more fluorescent tubes (1-6) are connected in series to a voltage unit (8) which operates at a sufficiently high frequency to ignite them without recourse to preheating devices. Pref. the same voltage and frequency are delivered during the subsequent operating phase. If one of the tubes fails or its connections (11-15) are broken, the high frequency employed will ensure the switching of energy between adjacent conductors so that the other tubes continue to glow with either normal or reduced brightness.
