The electric 'bingo' has a smooth sloping playing surface with regularly distributed holes. A metal ball is launched by a mechanism at one side of the playing surface guided to the top of the playing surface before being allowed to roll freely down the slope to fall down one of the holes. Passage of a ball into a hole is detected to add to the player's score. - Passage of a ball is detected by recording the alteration in inductance as the metal ball passes through a metal ring at the entrance to a hole. The ring has a coil wound round part of it and the coil forms a resonant circuit with a capacitor (C1). The resonant circuit drives an operational amplifier (IC1) the output of which drives the diode part of an opto-coupler (IC2). The transistor side of the opto-coupler is connected into an electronic scoring circuit.
