PURPOSE:To protect a ceramic cylinder from tensile stress, by surrounding the outercircumferential wall of the ceramic cylinder with regenerator or cooler. CONSTITUTION:An upper cylinder 3a for sliding a displacer piston 4 is formed with ceramic material while the outercircumferential wall 17 of said cylinder 3a is surrounded with a regenerator 10 and a cooler 12 to apply approximately same operating gas pressure on the inner and outer walls of said cylinder 3a. A heating pipe 9 is arranged at the outside of the cylinder 3 to receive heat directly from a combustor 1 and transmit to the operating gas such as helium, nitrogen, etc. encapsulated in the cylinder 3. The upper cylinder 3a is constructed not to be applied with the tensile stress to enable application of ceramic material thus to improve the engine efficiency by utilizing the feature of ceramic material or heat-insulation, heat-resistance and lubrication-free performance. |
