Vehicle or pedestrian traffic counting device - uses movement sensor for indexing counter indicating passing at traffic level

The traffic counting device uses at least one sensor (15) detecting movement of vehicles or pedestrians within a given range (18,19) to supply corresp. signals to an evalualtion circuit (1) for the number, velocity and direction of the detected traffic movements. Pref. the evaluation circuit has an interface between each sensor and a counter recording the number of traffic movements and a comparator for detecting the direction and velocity of these movements, with a time clock activating the traffic counting procedure over specific time intervals. USE - Evaluating passing traffic to determine optimium siting of publicity displays or advertising.
