A liquid flow device includes filter tubes (16, 72) which act as reverse osmosis tubes, ultrafiltration tubes or microfiltration tubes. The device also includes, a liquid inlet (38, 44); a liquid outlet (38, 46); collection means (42) for collecting liquid, which has passed through the walls of the membrane tubes (16, 72), from around the membrane tubes. A multiple of stacked discs (12) is provided in face-to-face relationship, the discs (12) having apertures (14) arranged in allignment so as to define a number of elongated passages, each of which passages receiving a membrane tube (16, 72). The discs are held together by at least one elongated tension member (26, 50, 52, 53); and attachment means (28, 58) acting at opposite ends of each elongated tension member (26, 50, 52, 53) for forcing the discs (12, 70) tightly together. |
