<p>The infra-red imager, for seeing through foc, is compact and simple enough to be mounted in a vehicle. The IR radiation is focussed onto an IR sensitive array of e.g. diodes (A) whose electrical output signals are used to control corresponding points in a matrix (B) emitting visible light. The visible light emitting matrix consists of a liquid crystal array and it is coupled directly to the IR array. The IR array's picture points are electrically connected through a spacer plate to the corresponding picture points in the liquid crystal matrix so that their output signals excite directly the liquid crystal picture points.</p> |
