PURPOSE:To set the exposure potential corresponding to the in-use atmosphere of a photosensitive body to a uniform exposure level by adjusting the quantity of light of an optical system capable of projecting light on an optional axial position on the photosensitive body according to the latest photosensitive drum potential characteristic information detected finely in each copying sequence. CONSTITUTION:This device is provided with a potential sensor 26 as a potential detecting means which detects an exposure potential on a photosensitive drum 3 as the photosensitive body exposed to the reflected light of light projected on a reference white plate from an exposing means, moving mechanisms 12g and 12h which move the potential sensor 26 in the axial direction of the photosensitive drum 3, and a controller 12 as a light quantity adjusting means which adjusts the quantity of light projected from the optical system in the axial direction of the photosensitive drum 3 according to the exposure potential characteristic information detected by the potential sensor 26 moved by the moving mechanisms 12g and 12h in the axial direction of the photosensitive body. The exposure potential characteristics of the photosensitive drum 3 in its actual atmosphere right before the start of a copy sequence can accurately be detected. Therefore, an irregularity of exposure due to the exposure potential characteristic in the atmosphere is corrected finely right before document exposure and the light part potential level is uniformed over the entire surface of the photosensitive body. |
