PURPOSE: To measure liquid level with a device that has a simple structure, is reliable, is highly sensitive, and can withstand a high temperature by providing a compact electrical reaction mechanism for emitting beam radiation energy or light. CONSTITUTION: An extremely short individual overcurrent pulse is created by a transducer that is sensitive to beam-shaped radiation energy. Then, by providing an electrical reaction mechanism 22 consisting of a transducer that is combined to a light emitting diode 22, namely a photo transistor (FTr) 24, a short current is generated with a level that exceeds the rated steady current of the electrical reaction mechanism 22 but is not sufficient for giving a damage. Namely, the mechanism 22 uses the light emitting diode 22 and the combined FTr 24 and has a specific maximum safety current rating. Then, by applying a short voltage pulse with a level that exceeds a specific rated current but has an extremely short continuation time to the mechanism 22 and measuring the reaction of the FTr 24, the presence or absence of liquid in the passage of radiation energy is detected and a liquid level can be measured. |
