The invention relates to a method for manufacturing a wooden playing bowl which consists: - in a first stage, in assembling, by gluing face against face, n plates 1, 2d, 2g, 3d, 3g, 4d, 4g, of different diameters, whose periphery is pre-cut cylindrically in the case of the central plate 1 and frustoconically in the case of the lateral plates 2, 3 and 4 at angles of inclination alpha , beta , gamma whose degree of opening becomes greater with distance from the central plate 1, - and in a second stage, in roughing down (rough shaping) by machining the n assembled plates 1, 2, 3 and 4 in the spherical outer shape of a bowl. The invention also relates to a playing bowl of a player set for an eight-skittle game manufactured according to this method. This bowl, of the type including a strike surface 8 and a grip 5 formed by two impressions 6 and 7 hollowed out in the mass, is noteworthy in that the fibres of the wood of the central plate 1 are parallel to the longitudinal axis of the grip 5 and directed towards the strike surface 8.
