PURPOSE:To make excellent a color density and an image precision after transfer, by a method wherein a coating liquid formed of the reaction product of a compound having a polymerizable carbon-to-carbon unsaturated bond and polyester is applied on a polyester film and then the film is oriented. CONSTITUTION:A sublimation-type thermal transfer recording material contains a sublimation-type ink layer which is formed on a coating layer of a biaxially- oriented polyester film obtained by orienting a polyester film after a coating liquid containing the reaction product of a compound having a polymerizable carbon-to-carbon unsaturated bond is applied at least on one surface of the film, and also contains a slide-facilitating layer which is formed on the opposite surface of the polyester film surface whereon said ink layer is formed. The rate of the polyester in the reaction product is 5wt.%-95wt.%. In the case when the polyester is less than 5wt.%, the adhesion to the polyester film and the strength of the coating film is lower, and when it is more than 95wt.%, the useful characteristic of the compound having the carbon-to-carbon unsaturated bond is not introduced in some cases into the reaction product. |
