Method for controlling the output of an electrically heated flow heater, wherein the flow rate at a known channel cross-sectional area is measured via the temperature increase at at least two resistors, of which at least one is not varied in its power delivered to the throughflow medium, and wherein at least one further resistor is used, the power of which is changed to control an outlet-temperature value dictated by a desired value, the current throughflow and the inlet temperature, and wherein in the event of a change in the outlet temperature desired value the flow-rate measurement is suppressed for a predeterminable time and for this flow time the resulting wrong supply of power is compensated.
