The positioning apparatus (3) possesses a cardboard supply device (5) which has a conveying device (15) engaging through the positioning plate (4) from the rear. The conveying device (15) extracts individual stiffening cardboards (9) by means of a suction device (16) out of a stack which is arranged in a container (8) underneath the positioning plate (4).
