The swash-plate of the pump of an aircraft hydraulic system is maintained at the correct angle by the combined section of a spring-loaded piston and a pressure loaded piston. The energising of a solenoid valve cuts the pump out of service by redirecting the flow of hydraulic fluid so that a main outlet from a second valve is closed. At the same time pressure is admitted to the spring chamber of the control valve. This pressure is then transmitted to the pressure loaded piston which pushes the swashplate into the zero-flow position.
