<p>A dry free-flowing thermal insulation comprises a major amt. of granular thermal insulating material mixed with a minor amt. of fibrous thermal insulating material. The insulation is suitable for installation by auger feeding, pouring or blowing, e.g. the end of a hose from a blowing machine can be inserted in access hold to sidewall cavity. Insulation is blown into cavity and does not bridge at conducts but uniformly fills the cavity. The insulation does not pour out if a hole has to be made in the wall. Typically a mixt. of perlite, milled glass fibres and ethylene glycol was blown into a sidewall cavity to produce an insulation of density 3.06 lb/cu. ft. and K value 0.275.</p> |
