PURPOSE: To prevent vibration by screwing the threaded shank of the screw contained in a clamping device into the female screw hole of a tool holder and making the threaded shank pass through the cylindrical hole of a cutting insert when the cutting insert is brought into contact with a pivotally supporting face and a retention face and properly positioned. CONSTITUTION: Since a clamping screw 15 has a specific shape at it head section 16, the side faces 6 and 7 of a cutting insert 1 is pressed against the retention faces 8 and 9 of a tool holder 3 at first, and then the base section 4 of the insert 1 is operated so as to clamp the pivotally supporting face 5 of the tool holder 3. These phase are continuously generated, and the clamping of the cutting insert 1 is secured under the better conditions, and the insert 1 is completely integrated with the tool holder 3. Therefore, vibration is not caused between the cutting insert 1 and the tool holder 3 under the working of the stress which the cutting insert 1 receives during cutting. |
