A high-pressure discharge lamp (31), with a base on one end, consisting of a cylindrical outer bulb (32) and a discharge vessel (33), arranged approximately axially therein and crushed on two sides. The supply conductor (37b) remote from the base to the discharge vessel (33) is connected to the power supply (48) remote from the base, which is fed back to the base (42) externally on the outer bulb (32). The power supply (48) remote from the base is assembled from a fused-in part (49) and a return part (50), each of these parts (49, 50) having its own expansion loop (51, 53).
