Thermal transfer recording material

Described is a process for improving a thermal transfer recording material comprising a base material and, situated thereon, a meltable colourant layer comprising a colourant, a meltable substance and a thermoplastic resin. The improvement consists in incorporating between the base material and the meltable colourant layer an anchoring layer, this anchoring layer containing a polymer component in the form of a water-soluble polymer and/or an aqueous resin emulsion and a high-melting additive in the form of a high-melting wax emulsion, a high-melting fatty acid amide and/or a high-melting metal soap.
