In the case of an ignition distributor for an internal combustion engine having a distributor cap, a distributor rotor and a centre electrode, the latter is constructed as a spark gap in the case of which two contact parts are opposite one another, with a small, constant distance between them. This design is mechanically robust and has a long life, since mechanical wear is prevented.
