The folding roller (1) has a cylindrical core piece (2) on which sleeve-shaped sections (6) of rubber-elastic material and sleeve-shaped sections (7) of metal are arranged displaceably to form cutouts at given positions between them. In order to guarantee that the sleeve-shaped sections (7) of metal, which have a knurling (10) on the outside, are fastened securely against rotation, circumferential grooves (8, 9) are cut out on the inner surface of these sections (7), into which grooves O-rings of rubber-elastic material are inserted. These O-rings (13) allow the sleeve-shaped sections of metal to be displaced axially, the frictionally engaged seat remaining intact, however, in the circumferential direction. <IMAGE>
