PURPOSE:To restrain color misregistering and enable formation of clear images, by providing a heating means for drying a recording paper in the vicinity of a feeding passage for introducing the recording paper into a main body and feeding the paper to the position of a printing head. CONSTITUTION:A color printer superposes a plurality of color images on a recording paper to obtain a color image. In the printer, a heating means 20 comprising a heater 21 and a motor-driven fan 22 is disposed on the upper side of a feeding passage 5. The heating means 20 is started at the time of taking out the recording paper 4 from a paper-supplying cassette 2, and is stopped before printing an image in the first one of three colors, namely, yellow, magenta and cyan. Namely, the recording paper 4 just taken out from the cassette 2 is dried by the heating means 20 by the time of printing. By this, the paper is preliminarily shrunk by the amount of shrink expected to occur during printing. Therefore, the paper 4 is not shrunk further during the period of printing the yellow to cyan images, and the size of the paper can be made substantially constant. |
