<p>PURPOSE: To lower pressure drop and to improve workability by composing a packing material of a desired shape by using an expanded material. CONSTITUTION: A packing material unit 10 is formed by pressing a blank, such as iron, then rolling the pressed blank to obtain the netlike expanded material, forming the material to, for example, a band shape, forming a plurality of louvering pieces 11 in its longitudinal direction, forming U-shaped notches 12 and forming the entire part to a circular ring shape. The thus resulted packing material unit has the good workability, increases the flowing velocity of fluid and lessens the pressure drop.</p> |
