<p>PURPOSE:To enable the adjustment of the toe angles of front wheels without putting a steering wheel into its neutral position by making correction to eliminate a steering angle from the front wheel tire angle so as to find out an amount of the angle adjustment of the front wheels when the toe angle is adjusted by means of the detected tire angle. CONSTITUTION:A toe angle adjusting station S, which is used in the final vehicle assembly processing, is equipped with mounting bases 3 to receive each wheel of a vehicle, toe angle measuring devices 4 for measuring the toe angle and the like of each wheel, and toe angle adjusting devices 5. The toe angle adjusting devices 5 adjust the toe angles by stretching and contracting the length of a tie rod or a lateral link in suspension of each wheel. In this case, after the toe angles of the rear wheels are adjusted, a composite angle for indicating the rectilinear advancing direction of the vehicle is obtained from the tire angles after the adjustment of each rear wheel. Furthermore, based on the measured tire angle of each front wheel, the correction is made to eliminate the steering angles of the front wheels, and then based on each tire angle after this adjustment and the above composite angle, the adjustment amounts of the front wheel toe angles are founded.</p> |
