A method of loading onto wagon trains replaceable, severed rails which have a length of at least 30 to 40 meters and which have been placed on sleepers on one side of new rails fitted to the sleepers. There is used to this end a loading machine (2) which is equipped with twin jibs (6) and twin gripping devices (7). The loading machine (2) is provided with telescopic legs (4) and is carried on the last wagon of a wagon train. The loading machine (2) is off-loaded from the wagon train by telescoping the legs (4), and the loading machine is caused to carry out work while the wagon train is driven backwards towards the opposite end of the rails (20), wherewith severed rails are lifted and placed on transport devices (23) located on the wagons (1). The invention also relates to a loading machine (2) of the kind described intended for co-action with a ramp (12) provided with rail-engaging wheels. |
