PURPOSE:To improve the turning-on or off life by coating an electron emitting material to the contact section between the lead wire of a one-side support section and a filament or to the lead wire section. CONSTITUTION:An electron emitting material 2 is coated in the range to a lead wire 3 between a filament 1 used as an electrode and the lead wire 3 supporting it. The electron emitting material 2 formed near the lead wire 3 has a thermal capacity larger than that of an electrode having no electron emitting material, no portion of tungsten serving as the material of the filament is exposed, and it is operated. In this case, when it is lighted with no preheating, no open circuit occurs, and it is very resilient against the turning on or off. The turning-on or off life can be thereby extended when a fluorescent lamp is repeatedly turned on or off in a short time for use. |
