The pail has an opened collar (14) and an end flange (16). The flange is covered with a collar (33) which fits inside the pail and is located by the flange. The collar houses the lid (11). The lid has an end flange (19) fitting in a groove in the collar. The lid also has a rib (26) fitting in a groove in the collar. The pail is opened by the tear-off strip (37) to loosen the lid. The carrying handle (12) is stowed on the ledge (30) on the outside of the collar.
