The invention relates to a bone plate locking screw of the type comprising, in particular: - a threaded cylindrical rod 1 intended to penetrate into the bone tissue of the fragment of a fracture via one of the openings formed in the said plate, - and a head 2 bearing on the abovementioned plate and holding it braced against the said fragment. According to the invention, this screw comprises a grip rod 3 which, connected to the head 2 of the said screw and coaxial with the latter so as to be received in the instrument holder of the output shaft of a rotary motor, is mounted in such a way that it can be dissociated from the said head 2 under the effect of a predetermined minimum torsional moment applied to the abovementioned grip rod.
