Treating recirculated washing water esp. for gas - from metallurgical plant, by addn. of water glass

The alkalinity of the washing water, partic. used for the purificn. of dust contg. gas liberated from metallurgical installations which is recycled after sludge sepn. is reduced by adding 30-100 mg/l. of water glass to the water maintained at at temp. is not >25-28 degrees C. Process may also be applied to washing systems in the chemical and other industries. It prevents deposition of salts in the circulation pipes. Better sludge sepn. is obtd. giving sludge contg. 28-35% less water.
