PURPOSE:To reduce the power consumption quantity supplied to a flash lamp by controlling the energy quantity generated from the flash lamp, based on a temperature of a guide plate in the vicinity of a part for a flash fixation. CONSTITUTION:By a temperature sensor 13, a temperature in the vicinity of a part for a flash melting fixation, for instance, of a guide plate 4 immediately before said part is detected, and in accordance with this temperature, an irradiation quantity controller 14 controls the irradiation quantity so that optimum (minimum) optical energy for melting a toner 7 is radiated from a flash lamp 1. That is, when the temperature of the guide plate 4 is high enough and the toner 7 is heated enough thereby, it will suffice that the irradiation quantity of light from the flash lamp 1 required for bringing the toner 7 to melting fixation is comparatively small, and it becomes unnecessary to supply large power to the flash lamp 1. In such a way, waste of energy is prevented, the generation of smoke at the time of melting the toner 7 is suppressed, and the transfer quantity is stabilized. |
