FLEXIBLE SUPERCONDUCTOR AND ITS PRODUCTION

PURPOSE: To obtain a flexible superconductor by using a silicon carbide fiber as a supporting fiber and covering a thin film of ceramic oxide on the surface of the fiber as a superconductive layer. CONSTITUTION: A silicon carbide fiber is used as a supporting fiber and perovskite is previously coated thereon. Then, a thin film of ceramic oxide as a superconductor layer is covered on the surface of the fiber by a cathode sputtering method, and the covered fiber is subjected to oxidative ignition in an oxygen atmosphere at 350-500 deg.C, and further covered with a stabilization material such as aluminum, then assembled to form a fiber bundle to obtain the objective flexible superconductor.
