<p>PURPOSE:To readily obtain the title compound useful as an intermediate for herbicides, etc., in high selectivity and yield, by reacting 2,4-dichloronitrobenzene with an alkaline fluoride using a nonpolar solvent and catalyst, such as crown ether. CONSTITUTION:2,4-Dichloronitrobenzene is reacted with an alkaline fluoride, such as KF, in an equimolar amount or more, preferably a molar amount of 1.2-2.6 times based on the above-mentioned compound in a nonpolar solvent in the presence of a catalyst, such as crown ether, preferably 18-crown-6, in an amount of 1-10mol% based on the 2,4-dichloronitrobenzene or a quaternary ammonium salt, preferably trioctylmethylammonium chloride, at 80-190 deg.C, preferably 110 deg.C- the boiling point of the solvent used to afford the aimed compound. Aromatic hydrocarbons, such as benzene, toluene, xylene or mesitylene, are preferred as the afore-mentioned nonpolar solvent.</p> |
