PURPOSE:To obtain the title form outstanding in mechanical strength, having voids among mutually entangled fibrils, by trimming polytetrafluoroethylene capable of fibrillation to a specified shape, carrying out needling while fibrillating, followed by compression forming. CONSTITUTION:Polytetrafluoroethylene capable of fibrillation is trimmed to a specified shape and put to needling treatment (pref. 100-300 times/cm<2>) while heating to temperatures capable of fibrillation (pref. 50-200 deg.C), followed by compression forming, thus obtaining the objective form with stereotexture having voids among mutually entangled fibrils, suitable for e.g., plastic materials for medical use. To afford this form with desired functions, fillers having corresponding functions may be incorporated (e.g., hydroxyapatite). |
