PURPOSE:To obtain a thermal transfer recording sheet capable of transfer recording of high-quality images with continuous gradations, by providing on a base a layer of at least two kinds of porous microcapsules containing respective electron-donative color formers therein and differing in pore size and film thickness. CONSTITUTION:Porous microcapsules A4 and porous microcapsules B5 contai ning respective electron-donative color formers 6 therein and differing in pore size and film thickness are applied uniformly to a base 2 together with a binder 3, thereby providing a porous microcapsule layer 7. The microcapsules A4 and B5 can control the quantity of the color former 6 exuding through the pores, according to the quantity of thermal energy applied thereto. In use of this thermal transfer recording sheet 1, when heat generating elements 10 of a thermal recording head are heated to temperatures T1, T2, T3 according to an image signal from a CRT or the like, the color formers 6 are permitted to exude from the capsules A4, B5 accordingly, and react with an electron-acceptive color developer 9 on a recording material 8, resulting in color development, whereby transfer recording is achieved. |
