PURPOSE:To cool an electrode with high efficiency, by providing spray nozzles which cool the exposure part of a furnace bottom electrode, disposed in a state to be exposed downward from a furnace bottom, by means of mist. CONSTITUTION:At the furnace bottom part of a furnace body 5, three furnace bottom electrodes 15 are disposed at equal intervals on the same electrode pitch circle in a state to be exposed downward from a furnace bottom part. Spray nozzles 17 to spray mist 16 for cooling on the electrode 15 are disposed around the exposed part of the electrode 15, and cooling water tray 18 is situated below the nozzles 17. Since the mist 16 is sprayed through the nozzles 17 directly on the electrode 15, the electrode 15 can be cooled with high efficiency. This constitution enables reduction of an amount of cooling water consumed and reduction of the frequency of exchange of the furnace bottom electrode. Lowering of a furnace bottom electrode unit, reduction of an energy cost, and improvement of dissolution efficiency can be achieved. |
