PURPOSE:To reduce the performance deterioration of a battery during storage by covering the periphery of a battery in which the periphery of a positive plate and that of a negative plate are melt-bonded with a hot-melt resin with a gas-barrier coating film so as to have a U-shaped cross section. CONSTITUTION:The central part of a positive plate 1 made of stainless steel plate is projected downward, and a positive electrode 2 comprising a mixture of titanium disulfide and a gelled electrolyte, a separator 3 made of microporous polypropylene film, and a negative electrode 4 comprising a Li-Al alloy are placed within the projected part, and a negative plate 5 made of stainless steel is placed thereon. The negative plate 5 is projected upward. The peripheries of the positive plate 1 and the negative plate 5 are sealed with a modified polyolefin hot-melt resin 6. The periphery of the battery is covered with a gas-barrier coating film 7 so as to have a U-shaped cross section. As the coating film 7, epoxy resin is used. |
