The subject of the present invention is a device for making a live tapping on a pipe including a live tapping collar 2 which is fixed onto a first pipe 1, which collar is composed of two parts 2a/2b which partly surround the said pipe and which are joined to one another by clamping means 3, one of these parts 2b including a tapped boss 2b2 for receiving a tap or valve 4 intended to isolate a second pipe or place it in communication with the said first pipe 1, characterised in that the threaded part 4a1 of the tap or of the valve, which interacts with the tapping 2b4 of the said boss when it is installed on the collar 2 includes a cylindrical or slightly tapered tubular extension 5 whose length is such that after the tap or the valve 4 has been completely screwed onto the collar 2 the said extension 5 penetrates inside the said first pipe 1, which extension includes at its free end cutting means 5a/6b for perforating by wearing away the wall of the said first pipe 1 as the tap 4 is screwed onto the collar 2.
