PURPOSE:To eliminate microscopic flaws produced at the time of grinding and thereby enhance the quality of products by attaching upper and lower abrasive leathers to the facing surfaces of the upper and lower grinding discs and by providing a number of holes with specific size in the lower abrasive leather of the jig to grind a face plate glass of an image tube. CONSTITUTION:Upper 3 and lower 4 abrasive leathers are attached to the facing surfaces of an upper 1 and a lower 2 grinding disc arranged oppositely, and between these a face plate of glass 6 is set retained by a carrier 5. This lower abrasive leather 4 is provided with a number of holes 4a of 5-10mm. in diameter grouped radially at a spacing about 10-30mm.. When abrasive material is fed from an abrasive material supply tube 7, the material will stay in these holes 4a, and the abrasive material is fed to the undersurface of the face plate 6 when this and the lower grinding disc 2 rotate, so that generation of microscopic flaws can be suppressed. |
