The machine for printing articles (9) conveyed along an overhead track (8) has a horizontal inking plate (2) which receives ink from a spreader (4) which is moved towards it from an ink container, has a spherical printing head (5) which is swung upwards from the inking plate to the printing position formed by the surface of the article travelling overhead. The printing head is supported by a cylinder (14) which lowers it in contact with the inking plate, then lifts it again. The cylinder is mounted at the bottom of a block (16) on the machine, which is swung upwardly to the printing position where the head is pushed against the article. The block can carry two heads, extending in opposite directions, alternately operated. ADVANTAGE - Easy operation.
