The invention pertains to a lifting system for a blanket lead roller, especially for lifting the lead rollers below the floor plane (T-T) in the compression area of a paper machine away from the cellar space (K) above the floor plane (T-T) in order to perform a blanket switch. The system includes a cable (24) or similar lifting device functionally connected to the blanket tightening device, and at least one upper steering device, preferably a break wheel (23).
