Filler wire for producing fusion-joined layers

To be able to produce crack-free, highly wear- and corrosion-resistant fusion-joined layers of low porosity by thermal spraying or surface welding with high deposition rates at advantageous costs, hollow wires filled with composite powder are used. The composite powder is produced either from a starting powder made by atomisation and subsequently bonded by mechanical and/or chemical agglomeration to other pulverulent materials, or by spray-drying. Owing to the metallurgical reaction of the powder with the metallic filler wire shell during the thermal spraying or surface welding, the resulting protective layer has self-flowing properties.
