A running rail (1) for the rollers of the forward and return treads (10,8) of a moving pavement is provided in the section between the reversing regions of the pavement. The forward and return treads travel one above the other and the rail has a generally U-shaped cross-section and is arranged lying on one arm (5). The inside (7) of that arm forms the running surface for the rollers (3) of the return treads and the outside (9) of the other arm (4) forms the running surface for rollers (2) of the forward treads. Each running surface may have at least one lateral guide means (26a, 26b). <IMAGE>
