PURPOSE:To obtain popcorn having roundness close to globularity and arranged shape, by removing epidermis of dried maize by a shaving type rubbing machine, heating and pressurizing in a pressure pot, releasing and reducing pressure. CONSTITUTION:Dried maize is treated by a shaving type rubbing machine such as an air-cooled rice pearling mill of exclusive use for crushed rice and epidmeris is removed without crushing the maize. Then the maize is put in a pressure pot, a cover is placed on the pot and the pot is heated from the outside. When pressure reaches a fixed pressure, the hot pot is opened while receiving by a wire net container, pressure is abruptly reduced and returned to normal temperature and the maize is instantly expanded to give popcorn 1. The popcorn thus obtained has an extremely arranged shape almost close to globularity, has beautiful appearance, is readily edible and is not laid between the teeth. |
