With the array, cooling tubes (16) are suspended under the ceiling (14) of a room to be cooled. A large length of cooling tube with large free surface is to be accommodated in a confined space. Large quantities of cold can then be imparted to the surrounding air without reaching the dew point. To this end, rails (18) with pockets (22) for inserting and suspending the tubes are fastened under the ceiling parallel to one another at mutual transverse distances. The tubes are inserted, running to and fro, in the pockets. The insertion and running of the tubes between the pockets can take place according to different patterns. As a result, different cooling tube lengths and thus cooling capacities are obtained.
